As the first signs of spring appear and the forces of rebirth start to emerge, are we ready for what is to come? To release what has gone, to integrate the changes which have taken place, and to be in a state of balance to receive the new is the inner work for this Imbolc time of year. Yet 2025 is no ordinary year. All of the large planets of the solar system, which hold and shape the fabric of life, will change signs over the next six months. Powerful shifts are on the way and it is wise to pause, take stock and re-align anything out of balance on the inner planes so we are able to accept and flow with all that is new.

Commencing in the light of the full moon and with the guidance of the spirit of Enchanter’s Nightshade (Circeae lutetiana), we get to pause together in this liminal space between what was and what will be, between past and future, between the ending of one cycle and the beginning of another. We will journey through the lunar cycle together to release ourself from old, isolating and limiting thought-patterns, find equilibrium within current life challenges and discover a new plant spirit ally who can help orientate us towards the manifestation of all the prayers and intentions we have set over the last five years of immense human transformation. This year is a pivotal year away from the kali yuga and marks the threshold of a new epoch.

Circeae lutetiana is a fascinating plant, classed as a bane yet has no poison, it’s high level of tannins make it inedible yet it’s spirit places it well within the realm of magic. Named after the sorceress Circe who apparently used it in her potion which transformed Odysseus’ men into pigs, this often overlooked plant brings an amplification to magical processes and is known to facilitate change. It’s power lies in it’s dualistic nature and it’s ability to hold polarities. Favouring a balance of sunlight and shadow, Enchanter’s Nightshade grows in dappled light, offering a carpet of tiny two-petalled flowers scintillating across the twilight woodland floor. Associated with karmic Saturn and the earth and water elements this magical herb has been used for manifestation, revealing secrets, increasing power and attracting love. As a vibrational remedy, which we will be working with, it assists with the fear of both darkness and light, addresses spiritual bypassing, re-nourishes where there is spiritual burnout and turns us from the avoidance of personal shadow. This is a journey of integration rather than change, of orientation rather than transformation, to release our true potential by bringing balance, self-love and courage. This plant initiation will prepare us energetically, emotionally and spiritually for the changing tides of life.
